In in a proactive move to champion holistic employee welfare, Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF), through the Health Services Unit, spearheaded an insightful seminar titled ‘Understanding Cervical Health, Menopause, and Andropause,’ attended by nearly 100 employees from various offices yesterday, April 15, 2026, via Google Meet.
The session, led by School Physician Dr. Hendry D. Lorica-Señar, provided a comprehensive platform to discuss often-overlooked physiological transitions, focusing on the early detection and prevention of cervical cancer, as well as the hormonal shifts and management strategies associated with menopause and andropause.
Dr. Señar emphasized that both menopause and andropause are natural processes of the human body as it ages, rather than diseases to be treated.
With cervical cancer ranking as the second most common cancer among Filipino women, Dr. Señar encouraged regular screenings— such as Pap smears, HPV screening, and colposcopy—to detect precancerous cervical cell changes and identify high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) infections, ultimately preventing the onset of this “slow disease” that typically develops over 15 to 20 years.
Ms. Marivic Vargas-Balance, Director for Student Services and Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person, stressed that fostering a workplace culture of health and wellness is a “shared responsibility” that guarantees the long-term productivity and well-being of the workforce, especially as the institution continues its rigorous transformations.
Committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment, Dr. Maria Bella A. De Jesus, Head of Health Services, assured employees that the School Clinic remains open for health education, first-aid, and consultations, ensuring every employee remains fit to excel in their professional and administrative pursuits.
The seminar fortified the institution’s commitment to gender-responsive literacy and development, while establishing a home where every Champion is equipped with essential knowledge on public and personal health.
