An innovative breakthrough aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) earned five students from the College of Computer Studies (CCS) of Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF) recognition at the Bicol Student Research Summit: NurTURe 2025 on Friday, May 23, at the University of Nueva Caceres.

Authors Arvin Jay Agna, Deoneil Raven Bathan, Francel Kaye Parma, Lawrence Colis, and Romnick Claveron bagged the Third Best Paper in the Student Parallel Session for Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being, with their study โPillNOW: A CNN-YOLO and KNN-based Computational Framework for Real-Time Pill Identification and Dosage Monitoringโ.

PillNOW aims to โcare with ease for eldersโ peaceโ by using various algorithms and trained datasets that are made available in day-to-day devices to introduce convenience and efficiency for the elderly taking pills.
With the theme โNurturing Transformation through University Research,โ the research summit gathered thirteen colleges and universities across the regionโbringing together a total of 59 research papers and 63 research posters, which showcased “how young minds are tackling today’s global challenges with creativity and passion.”

Such a novel discovery, integrating technology with healthcare, solidifies innovation and opportunities in addressing global needs and challenges. The #NCFEducationxInnovation initiatives once again equip its students with competencies poised to unleash their ingenuity and potential.

Further, the NCF community extends its felicitations to Ms. Anna Loretta C. Romulo, CCS Dean; Dr. Ronel B. Simon, Research Adviser and Director for Research and Extension; and the entire faculty of instruction of CCS for the recent feat brought by their unceasing efforts in fostering the students beyond the classrooms.
