Pacts between Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF) and Central Bicol State University of Agriculture (CBSUA)-Pili are now on the table following a benchmarking visit on quality assurance on August 5.

After being shelved, a collaborative agreement between NCF and CBSUA has been given the green light to address three distinct areas: agricultural innovations, a quality assurance framework, and international ranking and accreditation.

As proposed, NCF will form a “workforce” to partner with its counterpart from CBSUA to design a joint roadmap and execute the initiatives outlined in the agreement.

The plan to formalize the alliance between NCF and CBSUA was considered following the dialogues between the key officials of the two institutions who expressed interest to build partnerships.

Aiming at strengthening the institutional standards and guaranteeing sustainable improvement of academic programs and administrative services, NCF, on August 5, inquired about the CBSUA’s academic practices, learning facilities, technological infrastructure, management standards, institutional and program accreditation, and global assessment and recognition.

The CBSUA prepared a series of discussions facilitated by Dr. Kennedy A. Beltran, Director for Curriculum and Instruction Division; Mr. Daniel D. Serillano, Director for Information and Communications Technology; Ms. Rowena R. Manaog, University Librarian; Ms. Miki Angela T. Kurahashi-Panganiban, Science Centrum Coordinator; Ms. Katrina G. Gelipano, Assistant Director for Local and National Quality Assurance; and Dr. Cherry Love B. Montales, Assistant Director for International Quality Assurance.

After an open forum, Dr. Sheila E. Balid-Bordado, Vice President for Digital Transformation and Quality Assurance Director, also shared the exemplary practices and distinct innovations of the NCF that CBSUA may also explore for supplementary partnership.

Dr. Bordado, reaffirming her desire for a joint venture, added that “an institutionalized public (CBSUA) and private (NCF) partnership will truly benefit the Bicolanos and Filipinos worldwide.”

Driven by a willingness to share best practices for achieving excellence in higher education, Dr. Emerson L. Bergonio, CBSUA Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Ms. Rose Lynnor A. Matos, CBSUA Quality Assurance Director, assisted the NCF delegation throughout the visit.

The NCF delegation, led by Dr. Sheila E. Balid-Bordado, Vice President for Digital Transformation and Quality Assurance Director, comprised the following members: Ms. Teenarose O. Castroverde, Vice President for Administrative and Institutional Affairs; Ms. Gemma P. Foronda, Presidential Affairs Director; Mr. Brenn Yulo M. Bacus, Training and Communications Manager; and Ms. Ma. Daryl Vernise S. Martinez, Accreditation Coordinator.
