Celebrating the rich cultural heritage and socio-political narrative of the Bicol region, the filmmakers and stellar cast of the upcoming Bikolano feature film ‘Sayaw Nin Mga Salampati’ (Dance of the Pigeons) convened for a media conference on September 6, 2026, at Tiger’s Café 3, Magsaysay Avenue, Naga City.
The media gathering brought together local journalists, campus press, and online influencers for an exclusive look into the ongoing production led by acclaimed Director Arjanmar Rebeta.
Featured cast members Marietta “Pokwang” Subong, Jhong Hilario, Ramona Yusay, and Kyle Adrian Paga shared exclusive insights regarding the film’s artistic process, thematic depth, and regional significance.
Helmed by Director Rebeta, the film is based on his award-winning screenplay, ‘Mga Kalapating Matayog ang Lipad’, which clinched third prize in the Dulang Pampelikula category at the 2025 Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature and secured initial funding from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
Principal photography took place across the municipalities of Libmanan and Cabusao, Camarines Sur, capturing authentic local landscapes, community social realities, and cultural traditions for the silver screen.
Based on the film’s official synopsis, the story centers on a “grieving folk dance instructor in a town where scarecrows wear the clothes of the disappeared, as women turn sorrow into defiance.”
Adding distinct institutional pride to the cinematic project, the Naga College Foundation, Inc. (NCF) Rondalla—under the baton of Band Director Mr. Venrich K. Hermogeno—performed live during the media conference and was officially introduced to make a featured appearance in the film.
In full support of the cultural milestone, NCF officials were present during the event, including Dr. Aida P. Targeted for release in 2028, the film stands as a monumental cultural endeavor that elevates Bikolano art, music, and sociopolitical storytelling onto the national and global stage.
