Naga College Foundation Teams Up with Bombo Radyo for Medical Mission

Last July 11, Naga College Foundation was one of the venues of the hailed biggest single day medical and dental mission in the country – the Bombo Medico Medical & Dental Mission 2010.  Simultaneously occurring in other 24 key cities in the Philippines, this medical & dental mission was able to help around 30,000 Filipinos.  In Naga City alone, estimated turn-out were about 1,500 participants.

Naga College Foundation provided the venue, facilities and the manpower to make this medical/dental mission a success.  As early as 7am, a mass was held at the NCF Quad to provide enlightenment and guidance to all the participants.  This was officiated by Fr. Felix B. Barela, NCF Chaplain.  A simple program started the event wherein short messages were given by Ms. Angelina D. Galupo, Acting Station Manager of Bombo Radyo Naga; Col. Leoncio Cirunay (GSC), Commander of the 22nd IB Philippine Army; and Dr. Roland P. Villanueva, Member of the NCF Board of Trustees & Consultant to External Affairs.

While the ROTC, with NCF Criminology interns contributed peace and order to the event, NCF Nursing volunteers were assigned to various stations, providing participants with initial medical assistance.  Those who availed of the free medical/dental services came from various municipalities of Camarines Sur.  Besides the usual general check-up (or Internal Medicine), the mission has supplied assistance in various special medical fields including OB Gynecology, Ear-Nose-Throat, Eye Refraction, Pediatrics, Cardiopulmonary and Dental Services.  Various private companies and government agencies provided donations to support the free medicines and vitamins that were also granted to the participants.

The administration of Naga College Foundation would like to take this opportunity to extend their appreciation to the NCF Community and all the departments who have been part of this event’s success… The Nursing & Health Sciences Department, the Basic Education Department, the Engineering & Technology Department, the Criminal Justice Education Department, NCF Health Services Department, NCF Security Office, the ROTC Group with the NCF Center for Social Responsibility, NCF Property Office and the Physical Development & Maintenance Office.
