Marking another historic event, Naga College
Foundation celebrated its 63rd year in a festivity which
commemorated its establishment in 1947.
Pre-foundation events kicked-off as early as
February 27 in a Tribute Concert for NCF Achievers & 2010 Graduates which
featured Shamrock. Other pre-foundation events
included a Career Information Fair; Miss NCF 2010; ROTC Loyalty Parade;
Kurit-Gurit Asin Dunong 2010 and the Engineering & Technology Mini Skills
Olympics.
The 63rd Foundation Anniversary
gave way to the BIKOLNON FESTIVALS. Expressing
it in an unfussy straightforward declaration of being a Bicolano, we proudly
shout "ORGULYO" (To be proud of). Naga
College Foundation featured "Bikolnon" through the opening of the Bikoliana
Section at the Main Library. This
section features literary pieces and books about the Bicolanos and the Bicol
Region. Another feature was the Bikol
Literary & Cultural Contests wherein NCF employees showed their skills in
Poster Making, Essay & Poetry Writing, Vocal Solo and the like. NCeans were also provided a Bikol Literature
Workshop wherein writing techniques on drama, fiction and non-fiction have been
discussed. At the end of the day the NCF
Community was treated with an amusing play by the Center for Arts Culture &
Bicol Studies – "Kon Tano an Babae an Naghuhugas nin Plato". The term ORGULYO for NCeans is not limited to
being an impressive Oragon but moreover for being proud of your heritage… proud
of your roots… proud of being an NCean.
The Foundation Anniversary Proper was observed Friday, March 5, initiated by a Eucharistic Celebration officiated by Fr. Felix F. Barela (School Chaplain). This was followed by a grand motorcade that was participated by all departments. The Opening Program of the Foundation Anniversary was the highlight of the whole celebration. It was formally opened by the 63rd Foundation Chairperson and NCF's Vice President for Administration, Ms. Ann V. Hidalgo. The occasion showed-off Field Demonstrations which were presented by different departments; including a Judo Exhibition by the Criminal Justice Education Department. A Memorandum of Agreement was also signed between NCF and the Municipality of Camaligan and Brgy. Peñafrancia (Naga City). This was spearheaded by the Nursing & Health Sciences Department. The MOA is aimed to provide a year long training to barangay health workers for free. This is to advance their skills in health care services. Other activities included the Seminar on Safe Motorcycle Riding and free Electronics & Automotive Services. On the same day, the Basic Education Department simultaneously celebrated their Larong Pinoy and Family Day Celebration. In our modern age of computer generated pastime, children tend to forget the traditional games we so fondly used to play. Hence the Larong Pinoy was a suited venue to have the High School Students experience again these time-honored games. Whereas the Elementary Department held their Family Day with a 'story-telling' activity from the Kabulig Bicol, an organization of Bicolano Writers. Finally, the day was concluded by an Anniversary Concert by the renowned NCF Concert & Marching Band.
Today's generation is privileged to
experience Naga College Foundation. We
should be thankful to our Founder, Dr. Melchor T. Villanueva, who struggled to
realize this dream. Naga College
Foundation is our link to the past; yet a bridge to our future.
Happy 63rd Foundation Anniversary NCF!!!
